This is a Hina-ningyo.Hina-ningyo is a traditional Japanese doll set displayed to celebrate Hina-matsuri (Doll’s Festival or Girls’ Day) on March 3rd. Families display these dolls to pray for the health, happiness, and prosperous future of their young daughters.

The pair of dolls represents a traditional imperial wedding from the Heian period (794–1185).

They symbolize a happy marriage and serve as a protective charm, wishing that the daughters will grow up safely and find a wonderful life partner in the future.

 Echigo-Ohama dolls are clay dolls that are traditional toys from Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture.
The overall appearance is plump and adorable, and the colors are bright, making you feel warm when you look at it.

【Echigo Ohama doll (also known as Murakami doll)】
Its origins date back to the Edo period. It all began when a tile craftsman who moved from the tile-producing area of Ohama, Mikawa Province to the Murakami domain in Echigo Province built a kiln there and fired tiles for government use, as well as making clay dolls in his spare time.
Although the person who made the doll is no longer with us, his descendants who cherished the doll still display it in their homes.Due to a decline in artisans, these dolls are rarely produced today, which makes surviving antique and vintage pieces highly valuable and sought after by collectors.
Additionally, in March, we will hold a project called ``Castle Town Murakami Machiya Doll Tour'' to let non-locals learn about the townscape and history of the castle town Murakami through the dolls left in the townhouses.

これはひな人形です。ひな人形は、3月3日にひな祭り(女の子の日)を祝って飾られる伝統的な日本の人形セットです。家族はこれらの人形を展示し、幼い娘たちの健康、幸福、そして豊かな未来を祈ります。

この人形のペアは  平安時代(794–1185年)の伝統的な皇族の結婚式を表しています。

男雛(王子/天皇)

女雛(王女/皇后)

これらは幸せな結婚を象徴し、娘たちが無事に成長し、将来素晴らしい人生のパートナーを見つけることを願う守護のお守りとして機能します。

新潟県村上市の伝統玩具、土人形で越後大浜人形といいます。
全体的にぷっくらして愛らしい表情、色も鮮やかで見ているとほっこりしますね。

【越後大浜人形（別名：村上土人形）】
江戸時代に三河国の瓦産地大浜から越後国村上藩領に移住した瓦工が、同地に窯を築き御用瓦を焼きはじめ、余技として土人形を作ったのが始まりです。
現在では、作り手が途絶えてしまったお人形ですが、大切に保管していた子孫たちが今でも家々に飾っておられます。後継者不足などにより現在では生産が中絶・極めて困難になっており、現存するものは非常に価値が高いとされています。
また、3月には「城下町村上　町屋の人形さま巡り」という企画で、地元以外の方々にも町屋に残るこのような人形を通して、その家々や城下町村上の歴史を知っていただいております。
