"Sakiori" 0081 Japanese antique cloth Cotton Indigo dye
It is a split weave belt of old cloth.
This item is not a new split weave of used clothing, but a split weave obi at that time.
It is thick and soft.
Cotton was once a valuable material for the Sea of Japan and the Tohoku region.
The woven fabrics brought by the Kitamaebune are treated with care, and if they are torn, they can be repaired by connecting them.
Furthermore, a "Sakiori" was made in which a string was torn and weaved using it as a weft.
Weaving was widely practiced against the backdrop of a culture in which valuable cloth is revived for new uses and is kept alive until the end.
