Married couple teacups are very popular as gifts for wedding celebrations and anniversaries. It is a set that matches the color, shape, and pattern, and is recommended as a gift because it can be used by two people.
Among the tools for drinking tea, it is mainly used for drinking "bancha".
Bancha is not a young leaf, but a tea made by growing tea leaves.
It is refreshing, has no bitterness, and is very easy to drink.
Therefore, in Japan, it is a tea that is usually drunk when eating or hydrating.

Mumyoi ware is a traditional craft of Sado City, Niigata Prefecture.
Its history begins in 1819 with the production of Raku ware using a mineral containing iron oxide called "Mumyoi" produced in the mine of Sado Kinzan.
After that, in 1857, the production of pottery began in earnest in "Mumyoi".

The "Mumyoi (red clay)" was also a Chinese herbal medicine for hemostasis.
After that, we will complete the conventional fragile "Mumyoi ware" into high-fired vermilion mud ware.
As a feature, there are special operations such as raw polishing in the manufacturing process and sand polishing after firing.

The shaped work is dried at room temperature and becomes semi-dry.
Raw polishing is the process of tightening the surface of the semi-dried container using a bamboo, metal, or stone spatula.
Since it is tightened while pressing the spatula, the surface becomes tighter and smoother.
Also, because it shrinks by 30%, the product is very hard and is a pottery that becomes glossier as it is used.
When the taste of tea, liquor, beer, coffee, etc. becomes delicious, it is attracting attention and becoming popular.

This is a work by Ito Sekisui. Ito Sekisui is the name given to the generations of the Akamizu kiln, which is the origin of the Mumyoi ware kiln that has continued since the late Edo period. From 1844 to 1847, his ancestor, Jinbei Ito, burned pottery using the soil called "Mumyoi" peculiar to Sado, which was the beginning of Mumyoi ware.
