Tokoname Yaki is a pottery made around Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture.
It is a traditional craft that was born in the latter half of the Heian period, and is considered to be one of the six ancient kilns in Japan.
The characteristic of Tokoname ware is that it uses clay that contains a lot of iron.
Taking advantage of this property, iron is colored red, and a pottery with a color that characterizes Tokoname ware has been created.
Among them, Kyusu is said to have iron content that softens the bitterness and astringency of tea, and is still used today.
In the history of 1,000 years, craftsmen who inherited traditional techniques have handed down various techniques.
It is a nationally designated traditional craft.
